She married Ferdinand Malkoske on October 10, 1936, and moved to farm in the Oldenburg area, where they farmed side by side with their family until Ferdinand retired in 1973. After Ferd's passing in May 1976, Lydia stayed on the homestead until December of 1992 when she moved to Stoney Plains Terrace in Beausejour where she lived until her passing. She made many new lasting friendships. Lydia devoted her life to her family and was always there for them. Her favourite pastime was baking. She also enjoyed many hours gardening, sewing, knitting and reading. Lydia's door was always open for a visit, a cup of coffee and a treat. She especially enjoyed visits from her family and always made sure everyone went home with some of her baking. That is what she was busy doing in her last moments. Friends may view at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Beausejour, on Wednesday, October 26 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m., also at the Sobering Funeral Chapel, with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at the Oldenburg cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Trevor Malkoske, Lorelee Bishop, David Wojcik, Pamela Hood, Stephen Rear and Craig Zieske. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in Lydia's memory may be made to the Oldenburg Cemetery Fund, in care of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Whitemouth, MB R0E 2G0.
