Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECIL ANGUS GILLIS On October 24, 2005 at Concordia Hospital, Cecil Angus Gillis, 87 years of age peacefully passed away with his family at his side. Survived by Sophie, his wife of 55 years; sisters, Marie and Jean; and a brother Gordon. He is also mourned by sisters-in-law, Irene Grenick, Elizabeth Hodgins; brother-in-law Albert Ross; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son Terrance in 1995. Cecil was born in Westbourne, MB and at the age of 21 enlisted in the Canadian Army where he saw service in Italy, France and Germany during the Second World War. After the war he was employed for many years at Silverwoods Dairy in Winnipeg until his retirement. Cecil's pastimes included square dancing, bowling and travelling across North America with Sophie. He travelled to such places as Alaska, Las Vegas, California, Eastern and Western Canada. Cecil will be remembered as a very caring and compassionate person who freely gave his time to his church and several other organizations. He took a great interest in his nephews and nieces and the activities of their children and attended as many of their sporting events that he could. Cecil was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Elmwood Branch No. 9. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Saviour's Anglican Church, 690 Munroe Ave. with Rev. Rick Condo officiating. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, R. M. of Springfield. Pallbearers will be Ron Hodgins, Gord Kilcup, Kyle Kilcup, Florian Komadowski, Robert Sanderson and John Chrol. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
