BRIAN WALTER JOHNSTON (SAM) February 1953 - October 2005 It is with deep sadness that the Johnston family announces the sudden passing of our father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, Brian (Sam) on October 23, 2005. Brian (Sam) was born at home in Scanterbury. As a youngster, some of Sam's hobbies were playing hockey, fastball and dancing pow-wow. He also loved singing in the church choir. He lived most of his life in Winnipeg. Before returning home, Sam played in various bands in Winnipeg as well as throughout Canada and the United States where he made many lasting friendships. One of his greatest achievements was winning the M.A.C.A. award with Riel's Rebels in 1984 and meeting his idol George Strait. He had the pleasure of working with such musical greats as Sterling Randville and Brothers, Robbie Brass, Len Fairchuk, Bert Todd and many more too numerous to mention, and recently in the Ivan Spence and Burntwood Band. One of his biggest accomplishments was the gospel C.D. with the Johnston family. He is predeceased by his mother Margaret and his father Ernest; brothers, John, Edward and Robert; his sisters, Shirley, Sandra and Marie; grandparents, Annabella and Henry Prince, Liza and Jim Foster, many uncles and aunties. He leaves to mourn his son Dale (Tanya), granddaughter Paige; brothers, William, Dennis (Doreen), Larry (Fleurette) and Leon; sisters, Doreen, Edith, Maria (John); aunties, Gladys Hocaluk and Isabelle Folster; godmother Beatrice Bunn and godchild Veronica Lyseyko; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
