IRENE MARIE LAURIN (nee TRUBA) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and friend Irene. Irene passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family in Grande Prairie, AB on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 7:00 a.m. at the age of 63 years after a year long struggle with cancer, which she faced with dignity and courage. Irene was born in Winnipeg on November 5, 1941 and resided at Prawda, MB until 1952 when the family moved to Winnipeg. She attended school in West Kildonan and honed in on her creative passion of sewing in her teen years. Going on to win many awards for her creative handiwork including provincial recognition which she accomplished despite her physical limitations as a result of polio. On May 1, 1965, Irene married her knight in shining armour Doug and immediately moved to Goose Bay, Labrador and later to several armed forces locations throughout Canada from the Maritimes and lastly settling in Grande Prairie, AB. Irene will be deeply missed by many and leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, husband Doug; children, Yvette Van Haga (husband Steve and son Dillon) and Kelvin (wife Kellee and daughters, Kristine and Suzanne); mother Mary Krysko; sister Janet Lapka (Michael); brother Don and their families and family dog Max. Irene was predeceased by her brother Fred Truba in 1964, father William Truba in 1976 and step-father Frank Krysko in 2004. Irene, you loved us with your whole self, always ready to give a little bit more when it came to us your family. Please know how much we love you and how much we will miss you. Of all the gifts you have given us, we treasure most the memory of all the special times we have spent with you. We love you, rest in peace. A family viewing was held at Oliver's Funeral Chapel on October 25 and a memorial service at Oliver's Funeral Chapel (Grande Prairie) on October 26.
