I learned today, while attending a career conference in Vancouver. On October 14th, Laurel was with me and 50 Grade 10 girls, who were so inspired by her presentation to them. Through her work with us over the last few years, Laurel has made a difference in the lives of many - I can only imagine how many others her message of empowerment has affected. She had her photo album with her, so proud was she of her family in Winnipeg. My students will be very sad when I pass on the sad, sad news of Laurel's untimely death. - Posted by: Mary Keitel (Acquaintance) on: Nov 17, 2005

Dearest Laurel, friend of many years and fellow teacher, you will be missed by all who shared your life. Condolences to all friends and family of this wonderful woman. I will always remember her love of children, cats, sunshine through coloured glass, and the outdoors. Laurel always worked to assist those whose circumstances in life were difficult. Her pragmatism, optimism and faith in humanity were an inspiration to all of us. - Posted by: Ken Di Cosmo (Friend) on: Oct 29, 2005
