EDWARD HOWARD Ed passed away peacefully on October 25, 2005 at the Lakeshore General Hospital with his wife Margaret and his cousin Ronelda by his side. Ed was born October 19, 1923 in Verdun, QC. In 1951 he married Margaret Kerntoph and they lived in Montreal until 1971. Ed was a welder and an electrician by trade and also enjoyed carpentry, woodworking and building furniture. He enjoyed having coffee with his many buddies and discussing the events and topics of the day. In 1971 Ed and Margaret moved to the old Kerntoph homestead west of Ashern to retire. Ed will be sadly missed by his wife Margaret of 54 years, brother-in-law Bill and wife Joyce Kerntoph; niece Valerie (Graham) Price and their children, niece Ardith (Dave) Springer and their children; his four legged friend Harley; his extended family Dave and Joan McLean; also many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and his father and mother-in-law. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 30 at 3:00 p.m. in the Ashern Gospel Chapel with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Interment to follow in the Ashern Lutheran Cemetery. Special thanks to Dr. Benson, Dr. Khaleifa, nurses and staff at the Lakeshore General Hospital for the care given to Ed and the kindness shown to the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB; or to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, care of, Julie Bergner, Box 721 Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 (for use in the Palliative Care Unit.
