MARY ELIZABETH DAVISON Died peacefully on October 27, 2005 with her daughter Marilyn and her son Doug near her side. Predeceased by loved ones in Marilyn's and Doug's families as well as by many of her closest friends, Mary spent the last years of her life in the care of many attentive staff at the Fort Garry Care Centre. Born on March 25, 1922 in Bottineau, ND, Mary brought a bright light and enjoyment to all that knew her professionally and as a close friend. Her life has been a series of chapters from running on roof tops as a young girl, leading her troop of Girl Guides, and a successful career involving travel on all the earth's continents. After launching her working career at Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting and with early travels in Northern Manitoba, Mary found, yet eventually lost, her love and marriage with Bill Davison. Mary formed a strong determination to independently raise her children in an environment that she singly built with care and with a focus in the travel industry which led to opportunities to gain a wide view of the world. Her work with the Manitoba Motor League and eventually with two international airlines allowed her to explore new experiences in many of the world's cultures. Showing the world to her children, teaching them the value of close friendship, and coming to her understanding of the importance of family were tasks that Mary took seriously and that she relished with a love of life. Mary will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all her family and friends. She has left her sister Grace (sons, Dave and Phil), her daughter Marilyn (husband Dave, Dale deceased) and her son Doug (wife Linda) as well as Marilyn's son Lee (wife Christine), Doug's stepson John (deceased), daughter Rhian (husband Dale) and great-grandchildren, Noni and Iain to mourn this sad passing. The family offers its thanks and immense appreciation to Fort Garry Care Centre staff who attended to her with care, love, and respect in these past years - Jaspir, Rose, Carol, Evelyn, Lyla, Sharon, Tina, Heather, Helen and Ivy. These caring professionals saw Mum's grace and benefited by her presence. From all your family and close friends in Manitoba and Ontario - Bon Voyage Mary! The family would appreciate any donations that may be offered in Mary's name to be directed to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba. A private service will be arranged in her memory for the family.
