1994 I was in grade 2 attending Dalhousie elementary for the first time and of course I didn't want to go to class. I found myself wandering in the gymnasium where Mr.Mar introduced himself to me and got me over the fear of attending a new school. Since that day he had always pushed me in everything I did and did not let me live with my excuses. I was just telling my mom the other day how I fell down the stairs one day at school and Mr.Mar ws there to make sure everything was alright. I know he's in a more beautiful place since he was the most outstanding human being I ever met. I will NEVER forget him and love him forever. Condolences to his family, he has blessed everyone who had the honor to know him. He changed my life forever. Thank you for shooting hoops with me that first day of school. - Posted by: Trevor Godfrey (Student ) on: Dec 02, 2012

I remember walking into your gym, I was just five years old. You had us line up on the big black line, and told us all the rules... I have known Mr. Mar ever since I knew school. He was a great teacher, very encouraging, and knew how to have a good laugh. He was my favourite teacher, and what could be better being called "lubnaboodna" by Mr. Mar himself! I was deeply saddened to hear of Mr. Mar's passing. You and your family are in my prayers. May God give you the best of condolences. With sympathies, Lubna - Posted by: Lubna Usmani (Friend) on: Oct 30, 2005

Foy was my gym teacher in 1989 and my parents friend since my mom started working at Dalhousie in 1991. Foy was one of those teacher's you have and will never forget. Foy always wanted to go out for drinks and appy's on weekends and really enjoyed his friends. He always seemed to be bugging me about one thing or another. HAHA. . He was one of those people you never forget. The Van Gyzen family will miss him greatly and will never forget the good times with Foy - Posted by: Karen Van Gyzen (Acquaintance) on: Oct 27, 2005

I have had the pleasure of working with and knowing Foy for the past five years. He was an amazing teacher who shared his love of sport and movement with children. I will miss his friendly manner and uplifting spirit at our Physcial Education meetings and gatherings. He will be missed by all !! - Posted by: Karen Landry DeCorby (Co-Worker) on: Oct 26, 2005
