CINDY LOUISE BEYER (Floating White Feather) October 22, 1962 - October 27, 2005 Coming as a great shock to all who knew and loved her, Cindy passed away suddenly on October 27, 2005 at the Health Science Centre in Winnipeg surrounded by loving family and friends. Cindy was the beloved daughter of Pat Beyer and is predeceased by her father, Larry Beyer. Loving mother of Jordan; partner to Robert; special aunt to Jason and sister to Doug, David and Troy. Born October 22, 1962 in Sandy Point, NS, Cindy and her family lived all across Canada as a result of her father's service in the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the many moves, Cindy and her family have always considered Manitoba home. Cindy was a proud member of Fisher River Cree Nation. Cindy attended the University of Winnipeg, she was the first in her immediate family to earn a university degree - a source of great pride to her family. While at university, she served as president of the Native Student's Association. Cindy followed in her mother's footsteps in the service of her people. At the time of her passing, she served as Executive Assistant to Chief David Crate of Fisher River Cree Nation. Prior to working in Fisher River, she was employed with the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre in Winnipeg. She is remembered by countless colleagues and associates, including those of the Island Lake Tribal Council, whose students she counseled, and whose lives she touched. A friend, colleague and mentor to so many, Cindy's humour and wisdom will be sorely missed. A wake service was held on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held today, Sunday, October 30, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Both services will be held at the Steven's Memorial United Church, Fisher River Cree Nation, with Rev. John Halcrow and Cindy's uncle, Rev. Stanley John McKay officiating. Interment will follow at Fisher River Community Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Keith Sinclair, Keith Murdock, Carl Cochrane, Harold Cochrane Jr., John McKay and Eric Bunn. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Chief Dave Crate, Mary Crate and Archie Cochrane. The family would also like to express our thanks to the staff of the Health Science Centre for their kind and respectful care of Cindy.
