ANNA KURYLO With great love, wonderful memories, and sadness the family of Anna Kurylo announce her sudden passing on October 29, 2005. Left to cherish her memories is her husband of 54 years Boleslaw; sons Richard (Isabel), Tedd (Kim); daughter Barbara (Leslie) Sytkowski; grandchildren Lisa, Tommy, Tyler, Michael, and Daniel; extended families Anna, Leslie, Gerald Majnusz, Czeslaw Szcznesniak, Michelle, Rob, Ashton Howarth; many cousins in Poland and the Czech Republic. Her youngest son, Arthur, predeceased Anna in 2004. Anna was born in Eastern Poland on February 28, 1924. She survived the 1939 German/ Russian invasion of Poland, then forcibly deported to a remote Soviet labour camp in Siberia. In 1942 an agreement between Stalin and the Polish Government in exile, released Anna and surviving Poles from captivity. She then began her long trek through Kazakstan, Iran, Iraq and on to Palestine where she joined the Young Women's Cadet Corp of the Free Polish Army. As part of the British 8th Army Anna's contribution helped to defeat the Nazi forces in North Africa. Unable to return to Poland after the war, Anna lived in England until immigrating to Canada in 1949. After Anna's retirement from Eaton's downtown, she began her full time job of devoting herself to family and friends. Anna loved socializing with friends and family, travelling to exotic sun-filled destinations, casino trips, visiting and playing cards with close friends, but especially treasured her many family gatherings. Right to the end, Anna was always on the go, even though she suffered from illness in her latter years, which she accepted with dignity and without complaint. Anna was a member of Holy Ghost Parish, Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, A. Mynarski V.C. Br. 34, past V.P. of The Ladies Circle Polish Combatants Association; Treasurer of Emilii Plater; and St. John Cantius' Seniors Club. A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., both at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully accepted and kindly send directly to the Church. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
