MARY ASENATH KELLY Mary A. Kelly passed away peacefully on October 29, 2005 at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg in her 94th year following a brief illness. Mary was born in Morden, MB to Daniel and Asenath Kelly and lived on the farm near Thornhill where she attended school. She received her teachers certificate at Manitou Normal School and taught school for four years in Teulon and Meleb and for eight years in Darlingford. In 1941, Mary moved to Ottawa ON, where she joined the Federal Civil Service in which she served faithfully until her retirement in 1972. For many of her later years in Air Material Command, Mary was responsible for acquiring and distributing all fuels and lubricants used by the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada and abroad. This required her to estimate the fuel requirements based on the many types of aircraft in use, when they would fly and where, so that the proper fuel would be in the right place at the right time. Following her retirement, Mary remained in Ottawa until June, 1983 when she relocated to Winnipeg. She lived independently in her apartment until a second broken hip required a move to Thorvaldsons Care Centre in 2002 where she resided until moving to the Misericordia Interim Care Centre earlier this year then recently to Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her brother Hon. Mr. Justice John. J. Kelly and his wife Violet, sisters Kathleen and husband Grant Frame and Henrietta and husband WilliamVeals, as well as nephews George and Jack Frame and niece Maureen Kelly. She is survived by nieces Joan Ferguson of West Porters Lake, NS, Anne (Bill) Bourns of Gibsons, BC, Joy (Jim) Duncan of High River, AB, Barbara (Neil) McLean of Manitou, MB and nephew Barry Veals and wife Gail of Winnipeg. Also surviving her are Barbara Frame and Jeanne Frame, widows of George and Jack respectively. Our thanks are extended to the staff of Misericordia Interim Care Centre and especially to the staff at Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg for their compassionate, loving care during Mary's short stay there. We also thank Thomson Funeral Home for their assistance. At her request, cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interred in the family plot at Darlingford Cemetery in a private ceremony.
