Born: Nov 23, 1921
Date of Passing: Oct 30, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH MARGUERITE MILLER (nee GRANT) In the company of family and dear friends, Edith Marguerite Miller followed the light October 30, 2005 to meet her husband Alexander, her brothers Charlie (Dot) and Gordon, her parents, and a long list of relatives and friends. Left to cherish her memory are daughters Trudy Hansford and Wendy Joy Miller, sons Brian (Marlene) and Neil (Stacey), her grandchildren, Valerie, Blair, Cindy, Nicole, Lindsay, Hallie, Alexander, Amber (Brad), and her siblings Raymond (Joyce), John (Mae), Grace, Bernice (Godfrey), Bruce (Norma) and Robert (Pat). Born on November 23, 1921, Edith (Edie) was the oldest daughter of Alexander Grant and Edith Gertrude Langton. Growing up with two sisters and six brothers taught Edie about multi-tasking and putting plans into action. From an early age, she had the responsibility of the family household, and that part of her life never changed. Her home and her heart were open at all times, and her kindness, compassion and generosity were unsurpassed. The original party planner, Edie always made sure that all special events were, in fact, special. And no one was ever left out. Ever! Edie had many roles in life -- daughter, sister, wife, mother, nana, and friend. And she fit each role perfectly - always supportive and encouraging - to ensure that everyone was inspired, happy and protected. Best known for her cooking and baking, her kitchen was her canvas, and Edie was an amazing artist. Her skill actually became part of her identity and,to this day, it's some favourite food item that is always remembered in complete synchronicity with Edie. Time spent with family meant the most to Edie - whether it was at home on Perth Avenue or away at the lake. It didn't matter what the location, or when you stopped in, Edie always put on a pot of tea and lay the table with her homemade love. The last five and one-half years of Edie's life were spent in Kildonan Personal Care Centre. Special thanks go to those of the staff who truly cared. Thanks also to the friends and relatives who visited Edie. Your kindness did not go unnoticed. It was sincerely appreciated. Out of respect for Edie's final wishes, a funeral service will not be held. Her ashes will remain in safe keeping at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main Street, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice. Peace be with you, Edie. Your heart was pure and you will always be remembered with lots of love. You were the wind beneath our wings. KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331

Mrs. Miller was the favorite mom on the block -- she was fun, encouraging, always had great food and her home was a place where we always felt at home. Your house and your mom and dad will always be favorite memories of mine. - Posted by: Bev Mehmel (Alderson) (Friend) on: Oct 10, 2013

Wendy, Sorry for the loss of your mom. I know you spent a lot of time caring for her. You are a very kind person, a kind daughter. I hope the good memories help you deal with the loss and changes that are before you. I value the time I had getting to know you and your mom. Sincerely, Becky - Posted by: Rebecca Grace (Friend) on: Nov 02, 2005

Dear Family of Edith, We send our sympathy to you. Your Mom was a wonderful lady. We remember her from Dorothy Lake where we spent some good times together with your Mom and Dad. Mom was always smiling and had a word of encouragement when it was needed. We missed them at the lake the last few years we were still there. - Posted by: Walter & Betty Wittenberg (Friend) on: Nov 01, 2005
