TINA FRIESEN Tina Friesen, born December 20, 1904, died peacefully on October 29, 2005, at Rosewood Lodge in Stonewall. Tina was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) in 1984. Tina is survived by her three children, Thelma Hildebrand (Percy), Irene Larcombe (Bob) and Dick Friesen (Donna); and by eight grandchildren, Allison McKinnon (Bruce), Erik Hildebrand (Sheryl), Doug Larcombe (Linda), Diane McGrath (John), Rick Friesen (Susan), Lori Mergulhao (John), Janelle McDonald, Tanis Friesen (Ian); and by 12 great-grandchildren, Sean and Craig McKinnon, Kendal and Alex Hildebrand, Erin, Michelle and Philip Larcombe, Peta and Bethany McGrath, Danielle and Alex Friesen, Malcolm Mergulhao and Marcus and Deanna Hainstock. Tina was born at Lowe Farm, MB, where she lived until 1912 when she and her family moved to Foam Lake, SK. In 1919 she and her family returned to Lowe Farm, and Tina finished her education at Altona at the Mennonite Educational Institute (M.E.I.). In June of 1931 Tina married Bill, a school teacher. They moved to various communities in Manitoba where he taught, was Principal and then School Inspector. In 1946 they returned to Lowe Farm to assist her aging parents. Throughout her life, Tina was an active member of the communities where she lived. While in Lowe Farm, she started a Women's Institute which she organized and was involved in important humanitarian services in Manitoba. In later years, while living in Stonewall, Fort Garry and Winnipeg, Tina took an active role in the United Church Women's Association and the United Church Women's Missionary Society. Tina was the last President of the Women's Association in the Winnipeg Presbytery, and she remained an active member of the United Church Women's Association for many years. Tina was also an active member of the Westworth Church's Twenty-Ninety club. We thank the nurses and staff for the wonderful care that Tina received during her stay at Rosewood Lodge. A memorial service will be held at Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor St., on Monday, November 7 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge Personal Care Home in Stonewall, Westworth United Church, Winnipeg, or a charity of your choice.
