MARJORIE ANNE (MARNIE) HARDER (nee BIRCH) Peacefully, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret that we announce the death of Marjorie Anne Harder, on Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, at the age of 56 years. She resided in Winnipeg and was the beloved wife of Fred Harder. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Fred, of 36 years of marriage; brother Terry Birch and wife Cherie of Lethbridge, AB; sister Carol Hoban of Calgary, AB; brothers-in-law, Bill Harder and wife Betty Ann of Brandon, MB, Ben Harder and wife Ruth of St. Catherines, ON, Ron Harder and wife Diane of Parksville, BC, Garry Harder and wife Kim of Maple Ridge, BC; and sisters-in-law, Erna Redekop and husband John of Redwater, AB, Bertha Solar and husband Bill of Winnipeg, MB, Hilda Marshall of Victoria, BC, Esther Toews and husband Bill of Lac du Bonnet, MB and Rose Schacht of Winnipeg, MB. She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Isabella Birch. Marjorie was proud of her Scottish heritage. She was a passionate animal lover and was a dedicated volunteer with The Winnipeg Humane Society for over 18 years. Marjorie did regular pet visits to the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital for many years, as well as visits to the Special Needs Unit at the Grace General Hospital. She was a counsellor for the Society's Pet Loss Grieving Program. Her love of animals encouraged her to become a pet sitter. Marjorie was an avid reader and enjoyed sports such as curling and enjoyed going to baseball and hockey games. She had a great sense of humour, always ready to laugh, especially at herself. Marjorie was a good friend to everyone. Marjorie's funeral service will be held Friday, November 4 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Road United Church, 613 St. Mary's Rd. with Rev. Susan Tough officiating. Special thanks to the staff at the CancerCare Unit at the Grace General Hospital for their care and compassion over the last 15 months, as well as, to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at the St. Boniface General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie's memory may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3. Do not stay at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awake in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die. WOJCIK'S ALL BELIEFS FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
