MARLENE REIMER (nee MACARTHUR) Marlene Reimer (nee MacArthur) had three loves: her family, her profession and spending time in the great outdoors. She was the daughter of Jack MacArthur and Marguarite Carr, and she and her sister Leanne MacArthur Kuhnert enjoyed a childhood rich with grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles. She started her own family shortly after marrying Ernie Reimer and had three children, Beth Gallup, Andrew Reimer and Jennifer Reimer. She and Ernie took us camping almost as soon as we were born and all of us still love to be outside, winter and summer. Marlene was passionate about the value of nursing and had a major impact on the profession through her teaching and research. Highlights of her academic career included convocating with her daughters (Jennifer, Bachelor's; Beth, Master's; Marlene, PhD) and meeting Yasser Arafat while teaching in the Gaza Strip. She served as member and President of many national and international committees. She was a professor emeritus of the University of Calgary and had just started a new position as Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Manitoba. There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at St. John's College, 92 Dysart Rd., Fort Garry Campus, The University of Manitoba.
