Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARILYN (LYN) UPSHUR (nee WILLETT) Courageously after a brief illness with lung cancer Lyn died October 31, 2005 in Toronto, surrounded by her children. Born July 4, 1932, Lyn grew up in Winnipeg and married William (Bill) Upshur in 1954. The first years of her marriage were spent raising a family, living in several communities across Canada, forging enduring friendships. In her 30s she entered the workforce as a hospital administrator, rising to leadership positions at the Misericordia, St. Boniface and Grace Hospitals. Lyn's indomitable spirit of adventure led her to many travels with friends to Thailand, Mexico and California. She particularly loved her time at Devil's Gap where she enjoyed good friends and a lively, convivial community. Lyn loved reading, shelling and gardening. She adored time spent with her grandchildren. Her last years were spent revelling in the natural beauty of Deep Cove on Vancouver Island. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Melinda (Richard Bowden), son Ross (Kim Echlin) of Toronto, ON; her grandsons, Alexander and Dylan Bowden and granddaughters, Olivia and Sara Upshur. She is survived by her brother Jack Willett (Kent, England) and sister Patricia Keane (Mena, AK). She was predeceased by her husband Bill (1986). The family would like to thank Dr. Leslie Nickell and the nursing staff of the Palliative Care Ward K1 East at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre in Toronto for their tender care.
