VICTOR DAVID VIGFUSSON On Wednesday, November 2, 2005, Victor passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital after battling ill health for the last few years. He is survived by his children, Carolyn, Victoria (Brian), Joey, Jamie and their mother Marie; his grandchildren, James, Corey, Brianne, Brittany, Melissa and Kaitlyn; sisters, Gudrun, Inga, Vilborg (Norman), Alice, Lil (Dick), Darlene (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Bjarni and Bjorg Vigfusson; brothers, Barney and Joey and sister Freda. Victor was born on March 19, 1944 in Riverton where he grew up and attended school. He worked at various jobs before becoming a plasterer where he used his creative skills on both the interior and exterior on numerous buildings in Brandon and Winnipeg. He took great pride in the decorative entrances they created on many of these buildings and on the two bear enclosures they constructed and the Assiniboine Park Zoo. For the last few years, Victor has resided at Rotary Apartments in Selkirk where he made many friends enjoying their company over coffee and shared meals. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to these friends for their help and compassion whenever Victor was in crisis. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Selkirk General Hospital and the Intensive Care Unit at the Health Sciences for their compassion and care. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the Riverton Cemetery with Pastor Trudy Thorarinson officiating. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk and Gimli in care of arrangements.
