COURTNEY HAMABERG It is with profound shock and sadness we, the family, announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Courtney Robert Hamaberg on Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. Courtney was born January 26, 1926, in Teulon and would have celebrated his 80th birthday on January 26, 2006. He was predeceased by his parents Adolph and Violet; brothers, Roger, Bob, Leonard and Howie; sister-in-law Lillian; grandson Jamie; sister and brother-in-law Maymie and Nick Lesko; father-in-law Bob Cosens. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his wife of 58 years, Eleanor; son Bob (Sharon), grandchildren, Joanne (Brent), Jason (Karen) and their families; son Howie (Debra), grandchildren, Corey and Casey and their families; daughter Wendy (Mark), Mark Jr., Ryan; daughter Cindy (Al). He also leaves his two remaining sisters, Olive (Roy) McMahon, Florence (Jim) Fergus; sisters-in-law, Louise and Irene Hamaberg; brother and sister-in-law Dot and Tom Simpson; and nephews and nieces too numerous to mention. Courtney also leaves to mourn his loss his mother-in-law Gertie Cosens and many, many friends. Courtney was raised in the Norris Lake Community area where he worked on the farm with his family. Over the following years Courtney's love was always farming but this was supplemented with bartending at the Inwood Hotel, working with Manitoba Hydro, MTS and the Department of Highways. In 1975 he moved to Teulon with his wife Eleanor and remained there until 2003 when they moved to Prairie Estates Condos, where he currently resided. Courtney enjoyed a wide array of activities including crib, coffee gatherings, yard sales, BARGAINS!!!, meeting for neighbourhood celebrations and most of all, sparring with a joke or comment for all he met, young and old. But without a doubt, Courtney's greatest pleasure was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Courtney's life will take place Monday, November 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital. At this time the family would like to extend their sincere thanks to neighbours Bert and Kathy Campbell, Teulon ambulance and paramedics, Dr. Loudon and all the nursing staff at the hospital for their compassionate care and kindness; also to the family and friends of the community for their overwhelming out-pouring of support and kindness. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Teulon in care of arrangements.
