ROSE SALLY PROCEVIAT Peacefully, in the company of her family, it is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Rose, on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Stonewall and District Health Centre, at the age of 83 years. Rose will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her five surviving children, oldest daughter Bernice (Jim), Carter, Glen, Ken and Hazel (Martin); grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ken), Glennis, Leah, Jeremy, Matthew, Krista, Adam, Kim, Jacob, Aron, Ryan, Christina and Micheal; great-grandchildren, Ashley, James, Egan, Keesha, Blaze, Kayla, Tyrell, Breanne and Brandon; sister Kay; and brother Paul. Her memory will be cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as extended family and friends. Rose was predeceased by her dear son Dwayne; and parents, Samuel and Katarina. Born on February 29, 1922, Rose (Rosie) was the youngest daughter of Samuel and Katarina Proceviat. Growing up Catholic, with five sisters and six brothers, Rose learned about respect and multitasking. From an early age, she was a helping hand to everyone. She worked hard on the family farm and later worked at numerous jobs at the train stations in Ontario. Rosie excelled at everything she did. After retirement, she remained working in a sewing factory. Rosie spoke both English and Ukrainian. Rose was a single mom raising six children the best that she could and later helped with all her grandchildren. Mom was a kind and friendly person that welcomed everyone. When her children were growing up, their friends were always welcomed and never turned away. She would always make something special out of nothing. Through illness and good health, her heart and home were always open, her compassion and generosity were unsurpassed. Rosie was wonderfully gifted at sewing and cooking. She was forever mending, making new clothes or costumes. Mom always had something cooking, from her famous perogies to meat and potatoes, no matter where she lived. Her kitchen was the central gathering place for family and friends. This is where we would joke, cry, laugh and of course, talk about bingo. Bingo was one of her many favorite past times, as well as the Lotto 649. She loved company and enjoyed meeting new people. Rosie was always there for anyone who needed her. A saint is a loving person that walks along with others, and my grandma was truly a saint. The last eight and a half years of Grandma's life, were spent with her eldest daughter Bernice and granddaughter Leah in their home. They gave unselfishly a safe, loving and compassionate home to Grandma. I truly know, from the bottom of her heart, she thanks them and that she was truly grateful. Rose's funeral service will be held on Monday, November 7 at 10:30 a.m. in Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Ave. (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. Our family wishes to thank Kristol McDonald for her much needed kindness. Special thanks to Diane Diell and Doreen Hildebrant, beautiful ladies who made it a little easier. Thank you, Bernice, for taking care of our Grandma. Very special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Stonewall and District Health Centre for the wonderful care Rosie received, as well, thanks to all the special home care workers. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations in Rosie's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
