Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN DREWLO March 9, 1931 - November 2, 2005 With saddened hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Evelyn Drewlo. Evelyn passed away quietly and peacefully with her family at her side, at Health Sciences Centre, at the age of 74 years. Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Darrell) Porteous, Beverly (George) Batten, Doreen (Gerald) Tober and Bonnie Drewlo; her grandchildren, Chester (Hayley), Melanie (Brandon), Trevor (Aleita), Candace, Christopher, Curtis and Kolby; her great-grandchildren, Teale, Matteo, Lyric and Raya. Evelyn will also be missed by her precious sister Frieda (Nick) Shachtay and nieces, Barb, Gale, Audrey and nephew Brock, along with their families. Also by her brothers-in-law, Ernie (Blanche), Harold (Lorna) Drewlo and sister-in-law Eva Drewlo, along with many nieces and nephews. Evelyn was predeceased by two infant brothers, her beloved husband Roy, in 1976, her father Louis Kiesman in 1981, her mother Antolina Kiesman in 1996 and great-granddaughter Lexi Dawn in 2002 (at birth). Also by brothers-in-law, Bill, Ben, and Rudy Drewlo; sister-in-law Bertha Buechler and more recently, Frieda Buchholz (2005) and Agathe Drewlo (2004). Mom was born in the R.M. of Siglunes and was raised in the Moosehorn area. As a young woman, she worked at the Moosehorn Hotel, diligently performing several duties. She met Roy Drewlo and Mom and Dad were married in 1950. Together they farmed on Dad's homestead in the New Home District until his passing nearly 30 years ago. She endured a huge adjustment at this time, but persevered and learned to drive at 51 years; which enabled her to remain on the farm for many more years. She later moved to the manor in Moosehorn, where she resided up until her passing. The church was very important to Mom and for a few years her and Dad enjoyed singing in the Choir. She also enjoyed gardening, berry picking, baking and preserving fruits and vegetables. She loved gospel music and many radio and television programs, especially the Tommy Hunter Show and his specials. Mom was a generous, caring person and instilled in her family some very important skills and values. We were indeed blessed to have such a wonderful mother and grandmother. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6 at the Peace Lutheran Church in Moosehorn, with Pastor Terry Throndson officiating. Friends and relatives may pay their respects one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow in the Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evelyn's memory to the Peace Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Moosehorn, MB R0C 2E0, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
