JAN (JOHN) WOJCIK Peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2005 with his daughter at his side, passed onto eternal life in the 89th year of his journey through life and was taken into the loving arms of Our Father Lord and Saviour, to be reunited with his beloved wife, Zofia (Sophia) and beloved daughter, Irene. Jan was born in Pierszyce, Poland near Tarnow on December 13, 1915. Jan was predeceased by his father Wojciech Wojcik and mother Agata (Kopec) Wojcik in Poland and his brother Kazimerz Wojcik in Toronto. Remaining to cherish his memory, as he was a special father, friend and grandfather are daughter Danuta (Donna) Wojcik, and son John W. Wojcik. His beloved grandchildren Tim Fiala, Andrew Fiala (Lindsay Sweers-Friend), Sean and James Wojcik. His niece through marriage, Lydia Strappini-Favourite from Portland, Oregon. Nephews Richard, John, Stan and Josef Wojcik from Winnipeg, MB. He was a devoted husband, father, friend and grandfather No chore was too small nor too hard for Tata. He was a gentle man of wisdom and fortitude. Jan served faithfully and honestly in the Polish Calvary as a young man during the outbreak of the Second World War. Jan with his wife and daughter Irene spent several years in the forced labour camp in Germany. In 1947 to 1948, he also served faithfully and honestly in the United States Army. After the atrocities of the Second World War, he with his friends especially (Mr. John Bochniarz) journeyed to an unknown life in Canada in 1949. After settling in Winnipeg, he was reunited with his beloved wife Sophie and daughter Irene in 1950. After his retirement from CPR, he loved the outdoors, his garden and especially his apple trees and plum trees. He was a man of invention and loved to tinker in his garage for long hours. Tata, Dziadja our hearts are heavy - our love for you cannot be measured. Your Cross - God in His wisdom foreseen from eternity the cross that He now presents to you as a gift from His inmost Heart. The cross He now sends you He has considered with His all-knowing eyes, understood with His divine mind, tested with His wise justice, warmed with loving arms and weighed with His own hands to see that it be not one inch too large and not one ounce too heavy for you. He has blessed it with His holy Name, anointed it with His grace, perfumed it with His consolation, taken one last glance at you and your courage, and then sent it to you from Heaven, a special greeting from God to you, an alms of the all-merciful love of God. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for bringing comfort to Tata in his need during his long stay at Victoria General Hospital. Special thank you to Chaplain Ron Long, Bose Agbayewa, Joyce, Michael (Abbu), Musu, Craig, Denise, Trevor, Christine, Amid, Juanita and Tracey.
