Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTINE A. WITTMEIER (nee MILLER) 1908 - 2005 Christine's purpose on earth was fulfilled as her loving heavenly Father called her home on November 4, 2005 at the age of 97 years. Born in Austria on March 7, 1908 Christine immigrated to Canada as a young child. In 1927, she married the love of her life, John and they celebrated 65 years of wedded bliss. They farmed in the Stead, MB area until 1968 when they retired and moved to Winnipeg. She then fulfilled a lifelong dream working as a homemaker with the Victorian Order of Nurses. Mom was devoted to her husband, family, neighbours and people with whom she worked. She was a woman of sincere unwavering faith, demonstrating God's unconditional love, forgiveness and compassion throughout her life. Mom's life blessed many people through her graciousness and generosity. She had a passion for gardening and was always ready to share any produce, as well as any baking, or anything she knitted or crocheted. Her family will fondly remember her for her love, patience, devotion and of course, the best cinnamon buns and gingersnaps ever baked. We truly thank God for blessing us with a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Christine will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Joyce Wittmeier, Sharon (Bob) Boychuk, Darlene Shearer, Irma (Norm) Kemp, Mildred (John) Prestay, Lloyd (Leanna) Wittmeier, Gerry (Velma) Wittmeier, 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren as well as her dear sister Sophie and sister-in-law Evelyn along with many nieces and nephews. Christine was predeceased by her husband John, son Gilbert, baby daughter Dorothea, and grandson Larry Prestay. Funeral services will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Wednesday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be six of her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Temple, Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home Chaplaincy Department or charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Pastor Bruce Logan, Pastor Ed Hamm, Pastor H. H. Barber and all the staff who provided care for Mom at Meadowood Manor. Absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8 Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.
