ROLANDE LAPORTE (nee LAGASSE) It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Rolande Laporte on Sunday, November 6, 2005 at the Riverview Health Centre. Rolande was born in the small French town of St. Adolphe on July 26, 1913. Being female and the second oldest of fifteen children living on a farm, Rolande assumed the role of mother very early in life; a role that would define her throughout her life. In 1937, Rolande married Edouard Laporte and eventually moved to the big city (St. Vital) to begin her own family. Nourishing her family with food, thoughtfulness and prayer; Rolande became a source of strength for her blossoming family of four children, eight grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. Her faith, values and role modeling motivated her family to be their best. On Sundays after mass, Rolande would look forward to sunshine and time with family. She wanted to know what's new so she could express her joy for our happiness and to pray for those that needed support. Never to complain, she placed her trust in God and marched forward in life with faith, hope and love. We are comforted by knowing that she is now in paradise, looking over us and continuing to fulfill her role as mother. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Louise Hart (Edward), son Roland (Diane), son Gilbert (Leslie) and daughter Yvonne (Brian), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Edouard on November 27, 1977. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to all the staff on the 6th floor at the Misericordia Hospital and on 3 East at Riverview Palliative Care for their care and compassion (thank-you Tony). A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Eugene Church, 1007 St. Mary's Rd. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Rolande can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB., R3E 0V9. J'irai la voir un jour...
