Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES WILLIAM EDMONDSON On Thursday, November 10, 2005 at the Portage District General Hospital, James William Edmondson of Portage la Prairie, formerly of Sidney, MB, widower of the late Elsie Edmondson passed away at the age of 91 years. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Saturday, November 12 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at Sidney Cemetery. James was born on August 21, 1914 on the NW corner of 31-12-3 near the village of Marquette, MB. He was the oldest son of Frederick and Margaret Edmondson. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Elsie, his brother Lorne and sister-in-law Treva. Jim is survived by his daughter Sandra (Allan) Rempel; grandson Gary (Debbie), great grandchildren Matthew, Emmaly, grandson Michael (Special friend Michelle and her children Alyssa, Jayden), grandson Clinton (Tamara) great granddaughter Erin. He is also survived by his brothers Roy (Clarice) of Farnham, England, and Mark (Vi) of Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, his sister-in-law Jean Edmondson (wife of Lorne) his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold and Mary Ann Kell of Winnipeg, Gordon and Velda Tapping of Penticton, BC, Crystal Kell of Thunder Bay, ON and many nieces and nephews. In 1918 the family moved to the Oakville district, where he got his education. He enlisted in the R.C.A.F. on November 4, 1942 and served as a wireless mechanic (ground) in Canada, Belgium and the United Kingdom. He returned to Canada in 1946. He then worked for Massey Harris where he met his future wife Elsie and they were married in Winnipeg in 1948. In 1953 he and his family moved to Sidney where he worked for the Manitoba Pool Elevators for 34 years until his retirement in 1975. He remained in Sidney until he had to go to the Douglas Campbell Lodge in 2003. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation prior to the service.
