MARIE VIVIAN FAVOT It is with great sadness that the family of Marie Favot announces her sudden passing on Sunday, November 6, 2005, at the Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre. Marie was born in Tisdale, SK on March 6, 1933. She later moved to Dryden, ON and then to Sioux Lookout, marrying Gilio (Zeke) Favot in November 1951 where they began a wonderful life together. Marie and Zeke had five children who kept them busy throughout the years with hockey, figure skating, baseball and other sports and activities. As the children grew, Marie continued to be involved and enjoyed whatever the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were doing. Marie's family was the most important part of her life. Marie was a very caring and thoughtful person with exceptional strength, and her smile and laughter will be in our hearts forever. She was active in the community and church, participating in many luncheons, teas and suppers, always enjoying the company of friends. Once her children were grown, Marie worked at the Sioux Lookout General Hospital for a few years, where she met another circle of friends. Cooking was one of her favourite pastimes and she took great pleasure in preparing food for family, friends and others. There was always lots of food for many and it was enjoyed by all. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Gilio (Zeke) in 1992; her parents, Bob and Lillian Schell; and one brother Lloyd Schell. Marie leaves to mourn her five children, Aldene (Gordon) Rankin, Rob (Tannis) Favot, Tim Favot, Kim (John) Carson and Holly (Cory) Normand; seven grandchildren, Chris (Marsha) Favot, Brittany Favot, Shannon and Jennifer Rankin, Cory and Ryan Carson, Landon Normand and two great-grandchildren, Kordell and Cortez Favot; along with extended family and numerous friends. Marie was loved by everyone that knew her and will be greatly missed. Viewing and prayers were held on Wednesday, November 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home. The funeral mass was held on Thursday, November 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pallbearers were Cory and Ryan Carson, Chris Favot, Barry Favot, Dan Thibeault, Joe Carbone and Aldo Gervasi. The family would like to thank the staff at Meno-Ya-Win Health Centre for their care and compassion. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a local charity of one's choice, through the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, Box 1449, Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9. kk Forever in our hearts - we love you kk

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • As many fondly recall, mom often entered a room with a smile, a cheerful greeting and a genuine spirit of happiness. She was an unselfish person who put the welfare of others first, always asking what she could do to help. She will be especially remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. Our memories of her will be forever. No goodbyes, just loving memories echoing all the good times. Mom we love you dearly and truly miss you. - Posted by: Rob Favot (Family) on: Dec 06, 2005

  • I feel so lucky to have been blessed with such a great woman as my grandma. I will miss her warm smile, her kind and generous nature, her strength, and being able to call her whenever I needed a good recipe or some advice on cooking. She was the best. Although the sense of loss is immeasurable, I reflect on her life knowing she lived it to the fullest and loved her family more than anything else. I take comfort in knowing she is now reunited with my grandpa. "Zeke and Marie - Many Moons In The Same Canoe" Love Shannon - Posted by: Shannon Rankin (Family) on: Dec 05, 2005

  • Grandma, Your ability to cook great food and your warm smile are only surpassed by your constant sense of giving and your wonderful strong spirit. It's no wonder that the week you left us the weather was so warm. Heaven became a better place because of you, and wanted everyone to know. We'll miss you dearly. - Posted by: Agostino Richichi (Family) on: Nov 17, 2005
