Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCARMELO SALVATORE VINCI Peacefully, on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at the Charleswood Personal Care Centre, Carmelo Salvatore Vinci passes away at the age of 96 years. Carmelo was born in Amato, Italy on June 10, 1909 to Rosa and Giovanni Vinci. He had one sibling, a brother of three years Joseph. At the age of six Carmelo and Joseph were orphaned, following the death of his parents. Carmelo and Joseph were separated and raised by other family members, Carmelo stayed in Italy and Joseph moved to Canada. Carmelo met the love of his life Felicia and they were married in 1931. They raised six children, three daughters and three sons, Rosina, Giovanna, Carmelina, Francesco, Joseph and Rafaele. Carmelo came to Winnipeg, Canada in 1948 and reunited with his brother Joseph after being apart for 26 years. Carmelo was employed by the C.N. Rail and four years later Felice and their six children moved to Winnipeg. He worked for C.N. Rail for 26 years and retired in 1974. In 1980 Felicia passed away and Carmelo was widowed for 25 years. He leaves to mourn his six children, 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Carmelo loved to garden and loved shopping at Eaton's. In later years Nonno Carmelo enjoyed daily trips at McDonald's his favourite was the cheeseburger. We will miss you dearly The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the kind care and thoughtfulness given by the Charleswood Personal Care Home and their staff. Prayers will be said on Sunday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Ave. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 14 at 11:00 a.m. also in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will follow in the family crypt at the Chapel of Eternal Memories Mausoleum, 1501 Waverley St. In lieu of flowers donations in Carmelo's memory may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1P6.
