MARGARET (PEGGY) MCKENZIE (nee MELDRUM) Peacefully on September 7, 2005, at the age of 86, Peggy McKenzie passed away at Lynn Valley Lodge in North Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband Doug and will be lovingly missed by her sister Ella Fennell, two children, Isabell (John) Bunning, Bruce (Marilyn) McKenzie, and four grandchildren, Natalie, Carly, Connor, and Jennifer; and two nieces Maureen and Nancy. Peggy was born in 1919 and grew up on a farm near Rosenort, MB where she lived until she met Doug. She was married in New Zealand and lived there for five years. She returned to Canada and settled near Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, where she lived for 55 years. Peggy was a stalwart volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Red Cross and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 10 where she helped out on Bingo nights for many years. Peggy loved working in her garden and her pet cats Kiltie and Russia which gave her much pleasure. She will be remembered as a caring wife, dedicated mother and a great neighbour. A private family service will be held in her honour in Nanaimo at a later date.
