Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJEAN DESLAURIERS (nee GULENCHYN) Peacefully and with dignity, Jean passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 78 on November 9, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Horace in 1976. She will be sadly missed by her son Wayne (Coleen), grandchildren Lincoln (Erika), Kris, Chantal and great-grandson Aidan and her daughter Gail (Ron), Daniel, Kevin and great-granddaughter Nicole. Jean was born in Elma, MB, the daughter of Sam and Nettie Gulenchyn and grew up with two sisters, Marie and Kay and seven brothers, Joe, John, Stan, Mike, Pete, Walter and Tony, all of whom have predeceased her. Many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews survive her. To Mom, her family meant the world and any opportunity to cook for them, baby-sit, play a board game or just visit was never missed. She loved the farm, animals, Saturday shopping, Ukrainian food, country music, her favorite TV shows, magazines, and in her early days dancing and large family Christmas celebrations. Toward the end, her daughter and son were devoted to her care and comfort till her passing. Special thanks to Dr. Patel, Dr. Taraska, Nancy Clark and her home care workers and the awesome staff of Unit 7, 3rd Floor at Seven Oaks Hospital where Mom spent her final few days. Prayers will be held Monday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 15 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy #1 E at Navin Rd, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.
