He was a dearly loved and respected father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Duane was born on December 24, 1923 son of Norman and Reba Tyler of Riding Mountain. It was there he was raised and received his education. He farmed with his father there until they moved to Piney, MB in 1946 to establish a family owned sawmill business. In 1949 he purchased a farm at Ingleside near Oakville and later that year he married Doreen Moxham. Together they farmed this land for 10 years before moving to Oakville where he established an Electronic and Appliance repair business. In 1968 he established N. D. Tyler Insurance in Portage la Prairie. He and Doreen continued to reside in Oakville before moving to Portage la Prairie in 1988. After his retirement in 1991 Duane kept very active in the community he loved by lending a helping hand, a ready smile and contributing to various community and Church related activities. One of the activities that brought him great fulfillment was assisting families at need through his work at Omega Funeral Home. Duane was a longtime member of the Alliance Church in Oakville and Portage la Prairie. He volunteered many long hours over the years and was always there to help out. He had a simple faith and trust in God which he expressed though generous and practical acts of kindness. Being asked to act as interim church speaker at some of the countryside churches, to volunteering for many church ministries and spending long hours driving anyone needing a ride to appointments and other commitments were things he rarely said no to. He served as Chairman of the Ingleside School District, as Trustee on the Oakville School Board and as Director on the Board of Directors for the Portage Credit Union. Duane was also well known for setting up the public address system for many, many community events and other functions. Predeceased by his father in 1978, his mother in 1992, his loving wife Doreen of 55 years in 2004; two brothers, Hiram Branhart and Grant Barnhart; two sisters, Emma Kitson and Irene Mitchell, he leaves to remember his life and mourn his passing his daughter Wanda (Jerry) Weselowski of Portage la Prairie, grandchildren, Mark (Laura) and great-grandson Kyan of Calgary; Michael (Tracy) of Devon; son Bob (Laurel) of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Drew presently of Zambia, Africa, Brock of Edmonton and Andrea; daughter Faith (Dan) Bartmanovich of Winnipeg, grandchildren, Alex and Andrew; and son Ross of Edmonton, grandchildren, Justin, Kyle and Jayden.
