DONNA ADELE DOW (nee KING) Donna Adele Dow died suddenly, on November 11, 2005. She was predeceased by her loving husband James Dow and more recently by her mother Mary Marjorie Graham (nee Lanigan). Donna will be lovingly remembered by her children, Michael, Terry and Robin (George Budoloski); grandchildren, Gillian, Katherine, Elizabeth and Grace; and sisters, Doreen Weitzel and Dulcie (Gordon) Stein. Donna was born April 25, 1932 and grew up in Transcona. She married James Dow in 1954 and became a devoted wife and mother. She and her husband cherished their family life and especially enjoyed their summers at Lake of the Woods. The summer cottage was a focal point for many wonderful gatherings with family and friends. She was more than a grandmother to her four grandchildren. Whether it was driving to dance classes, watching soccer games or final approval on hair styles, Donna was intimately involved in their upbringing. Gillian, Katherine, Elizabeth and Grace shared a special bond with their Nanny that each will carry proudly with them for the rest of their lives. Donna lived life to the fullest. She had a vivacious personality and winning smile that filled a room when she entered. She was very artistic, with a love for painting, dance and music. Always on the go, she enjoyed her many friendships. Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 16 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews United Church, 255 Oak St., with Rev. Janet Walker officiating. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 1101-191 Lombard, Winnipeg, MB R3B 0X1 would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My first remembrance of Donna was seeing her perform at the opening of the Pantages Playhouse Theatre, and thinking, what a talented lady she was. Her smile was radiant and her dancing enviable. I was fortunate to be able to have her work alongside me as we taught choreography to our Sweet Adeline Chorus. What a treat! That later transferred on to assisting our quartet, Free Spirit. Donna had an unassuming way about her that instantly drew you to her. What a loss to all those who knew her as a friend. My most sincere sympathies to her family. - Posted by: Sue Hammerback (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2005

  • Donna was indeed the most beautiful, loving, delightful, and talented lady that I had the pleasure to know. She brought such joy to so many of us in Sweet Adelines, and especially to my quartet--Free Spirit--- and we truly valued her input. Her smile and warm personality could make us do anything she asked!!! I will miss the beautiful person that Donna was, and I send my thoughts and prayers to her family. You will all miss her terribly---life is not fair!!! - Posted by: Wendy Broadfoot (Friend) on: Nov 14, 2005
