JOSEPH POCHORYLO September 2, 1911 - November 13, 2005 Peacefully, on Sunday, November 13, 2005 after a brief illness with cancer, Joseph, beloved husband of Stanislawa, passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 94. Joseph is survived by his wife of 56 years, Stanislawa; nephew Mike Powroznik (Anna) and Mark of Calgary; sisters, Stefania and Jozefa and extended families in Canada, Poland and Sweden. Joseph was born in Pelkinie, Poland. He was predeceased by his brother Jan; and sisters, Anna, Katarzyna and Olga. Joseph fought in the Second World War. He was taken prisoner to the Russian labour camp in Siberia. In 1942 he was released and began his journey through Iran, Iraq and Palestine to join the Polish Army in Italy. He came to Canada in 1946 and worked for CP Rail for 27 years and was a member of Polish Canadian Legion No. 246. The family would like to express their sincere thank you to all the staff at Riverview Health Centre and Home Care. A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. also at the church with an Oblate Father officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Polish Canadian Legion Branch No. 246, 1335 Main St. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
