Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALLAN CHARLES EAMER WILLIAMS November 30, 1923 - November 11, 2005 Suddenly while in Penticton, BC attending the Remembrance Day Ceremonies honouring the Veterans he was so proud to have served with. Al will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished forever, by his devoted wife Josephine; his proud and loving children, Gordon (Anne), Gail O'Malley, Debbie (Ted) Manchulenko, Derrick (Rob), and stepson Peter McCullough (Sharon) of Manchester, England. He was a proud grandfather of Tracy Manchulenko, Jonathan Williams, and Joshua, Luke and Matthew McCullough. He will also be missed by his sister Myra (Lorne) Finn of St. Catharines, ON; his brother John of Delburne, AB; sister-in-law Joy Stone and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Patricia (nee Lee) in 1985 and his granddaughter Kimberlee Manchulenko in May, 2004. Dad was born in Winnipeg, but grew up in Selkirk, MB. From there he enlisted in the Royal Winnipeg Rifles and served with them in the first wave of D-Day landing at Juno Beach, Normandy. Upon his return, he convalesced at Deer Lodge Centre and then joined the Province of Manitoba Liquor Control Commission. After over thirty years of service he retired in 1979. During those years he was active in many community groups including the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Association, the Masonic Lodge, the Vintage Car Unit of the Khartrum Shrine Temple, and the Winnipeg Citadel Corps of the Salvation Army. In later years he retired to Gimli, MB where he was honoured by the Masonic Grand Lodge with his fifty year medal and was also honoured as a life time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Selkirk Branch. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, MB with interment to follow at St. Clements Cemetery, Lt. Colonels Maxwell and Patricia Ryan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. There'll be blue birds over The White Cliffs of Dover Tomorrow Just you wait and see. Farewell our dear soldier, we'll keep the home fires burning. My Dear Jo we were so saddened to find out about Al's passing. Linda told our next door neighbour Gertie and she just told us today Nov 24th. Our sympathy to you and all of the family.You have both been such good neighbours and we are so sorry we missed the Memorial service. Our thoughts are with you.
