Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMABEL ANNE ZABORNIAK With much sadness and regret the children of Mabel Anne Zaborniak (nee Chwartacki) announce her sudden passing on Friday, November 11, 2005 at her residence at Pleasant View Lodge, Cooks Creek. Mom was born on November 1, 1929 and grew up in Winnipeg Beach. She often told stories of the hard but yet very happy times growing up in a large family. She later moved to Melrose, MB where she met her husband Walter and they were married on November 1, 1952. They lived on the family homestead in Melrose where they built their home and raised their family. Mom always tried to provide her family with the most she could, be it with her home cooking, baking, sewing or just support with schoolwork and various activities. A stay at home mom in the true sense of the word she was accomplished at many things from flooding and snow clearing the family rink to driving a grain truck during harvest time. She worked hard to provide us with a happy and secure home. She lived at the family home until the fall of 2004 when she decided to downsize and moved to Pleasant View Lodge in Cooks Creek. Mom had many varied interests over the years. These included stained glass artwork with Dad, travelling, gardening, puttering in her greenhouse, crocheting, and antique collecting. She supported and was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church and the Ladies Alter Society in Cooks Creek for many years. She was devoted to the improvement of conditions and treatment of the mentally challenged due to her personnel experience in raising a daughter with Down's Syndrome. She served on the board of Beau Serv Homes for many years. Mom was predeceased by her husband Walter in 2001; mother Rose; father Anthony; brothers, Bill and Joe; sister-in-law Jeanne; brothers-in-law, Frank and Casmir. Mabel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Ron (Charlotte), Sharon, Mitchell (Kimberly), Tracy (Al) Grieve, Christy (Tad) Collier, and grandchildren, Whitney, Jillian, Hadley, Tristan, Katya, Corbin, Christopher and Chaz; brothers and sisters, Tony (Vi), Mel, Joyce, Jason (Joan), Ralph (Barbara), Roseanne (Jim); sisters-in-law, Adele and Felicia Chwartacki, Lillian Zaretski and Victoria Zaborniak. She will also be missed by the residents of William House (ACL) Beausejour, residents at Pleasant View Lodge, and her many friends and extended family. At Mom's request cremation will take place and a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: A.C.L. Day Program, 917 Park Ave. Box 1015, Beausejour, MB. R0E 0C0. God made a wonderful mother, a mother who never grows old, He made her smile of the sunshine and He moulded her heart of pure gold. In her eyes He placed bright shining stars, in her cheeks fair roses you see. God made a wonderful mother and He gave that dear mother to me. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
