DENNIS MURRAY According to his wishes Dennis passed away at home on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at the age of 61 years after a valiantly fought battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Donald (1993) and his mother Margret (2001). Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife Bev; daughters, Donna (Russ) Franklin, Colleen (IIan) McIntyre, Debbie (Tom) Chubaty, Cindy Lysyshin; grandchildren, Marissa, Stephen, Kimberly, Julie and Alyssa; brothers, Ken (Sandy), Ron (Jamie); nephew D.J.; nieces, Shauna and Tracy along with family and friends. Dennis was born in Winnipeg, on August 23, 1944. He spent his last 20 years in Windsor Park but was a St. James boy at heart. One of his highlights of his life was being a Navy Cadet who played the trumpet. Dennis was a very hard worker who began his working life at a very young age as a newspaper carrier who supplemented his income by selling greeting cards on collection day. Over time he worked for Lucerne, Kimberly Clark, Sommerville Belkin and lastly in various departments at the St. Boniface Hospital. Dennis will be remembered for his ability to tell a joke at the drop of a hat, his quick wit and naturally his great Irish humour. His home garden was his great pride and his sanctuary during his difficult times, while his Clubhouse was his retreat where he could read his paper, do his crossword and jumble, and enjoyed his music by listening to the radio or by playing one of his collection albums. One of his other passions was watching WWE wrestling, he never missed an episode of Monday Night Raw or Thursday Night Smackdown. But mostly Dennis will be remembered for his love of life right to the end and fortunate are those who were part of it. The family wishes to thank Dr. E. Smil and Dr. Krahn for their compassionate care over the years. Also very heartfelt thank you to his very special caregivers, Lindsay, Lorraine, Nancy, Jenn and Barbara for their loving care, devotion and sense of humour during his final journey. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Bernadette Church, 820 Cottonwood Dr. with viewing half hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Dennis's memory to the CancerCare Manitoba, Room ON1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to the St. Boniface Research Foundation, D1000-409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 9Z9. Dennis was my best friend while growing up in St. James. Dennis lived on Brooklyn Street and I lived on King Edward Street in the late 1950's. We were of a similar age, both born in 1944. We sure did get into a lot of mischief together, but for us, it was just fun, we never hurt anybody or caused property damage. To this day I remember his great smile and laugh! Dennis was a good loyal friend. - Posted by: Ronnie O. (Friend) on: Dec 24, 2024
