CURTIS JASON HOLDEN (1971 - 2005) Husband, Daddy, Son, Brother and Friend It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of our beloved Curtis on November 15, 2005, at the young age of 34. Curt is survived by his loving wife Candice, his baby girl Chelsea, father Earl (Val), grandmother Eileen, sisters, Tamara, Gina (Dylan), Catharine (Daryl), nephew Travis, niece Riley and many other family members. Curt will be dearly missed by his father-in-law Leon (Shirley), mother-in-law Marilyn (Earl) and his sister-in-law Terra-Dawn (Andrew). He is predeceased by his mother Rose-Marie Pellissier, grandparents, Leo and Germaine Pellissier and grandfather Elwood Holden. Curtis was born in Winnipeg on August 6, 1971. He graduated from Kildonan East High School and later from Red River College with an Electronic Engineering diploma. Although his life was way too short, it was very fulfilling. He travelled the world and lived in all parts of Canada, including: Kitchener, Edmonton, Thunder Bay and as far north as Resolute Bay. While in college he met Candice, the love of his life. They fell in love and together embarked upon the journey of life. After a blissful 12 year courtship, Curtis and Candice wed. They were truly in love. On April 8, 2005, they gave birth to their beautiful daughter Chelsea Paige. Chelsea was the apple of Curt's eye, ohh, how he loved his little girl! He was a wonderful husband and loving father, the very best daddy our little girl could have. Although our time as a family was short, our lives were full of happiness. Curt loved Chelsea from the moment she was born. He joyfully spent his last few months playing with her and developing a special bond. When he walked in the room she'd squeal in delight and give her daddy a big gummy smile. You should have seen the love in his eyes. A part of Curtis will live on in his little girl. Curtis worked at Nav Canada as an Electronics Technician for the past nine years. He took pride in his work and always put in an honest day. He is an honourable man in every respect. He was an optimist who didn't judge people, hold grudges or have a bad word to say about anyone. He enjoyed spending time at his cottage. Boating, tubing, snowmobiling and hanging out with his father were among the things he enjoyed the most. He loved animals, especially his faithful companion Zeus. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Helping others brought Curt joy; he was never too busy to help anyone and was known as a computer and electronic wiz. Everyone that Curtis met loved him. He was truly a wonderful person. Curtis lived his life to the fullest and was happy up until the very second he left us. He loved his family with all of his heart. We know he is watching over us, helping to keep us safe. A Celebration of Curt's Life will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. on Monday, November 21 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust fund set up for Curt's baby girl, Chelsea Paige Holden. Arrangements entrusted to: Cambrian Credit Union, 1100 Concordia Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2K 4B8. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550

Condolences & Memories (13 entries)

  • Almost 10 years and life is not the same. 1 big part of my heart left and still is missing. I am trying to hold on to your daughter buddy. Not sure how I am doing. - Posted by: earl holden (father) on: Feb 28, 2015

  • Curtis was a great kid to go to school with. Although I only knew him in our elementary school years he was fun to play with and I have fond memories of Curtis. As I recall he was always full of energy. I was so sorry to find out today at this late date that Curtis passed away. I happened to run into a cousin at her place of work and recognized the last name and asked if she was related. I'm very sad to hear that he's passed away. I wish that we had kept in touch over the years, however it's nice to hear that he had such a fulfilling life (although it was cut short) So sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Lesley (Iverson)Smith (Elementary schoolmate from Glenwood School) on: Jan 29, 2013

  • Curt, you were the son I never had! You were always there for me, in good times and bad, and I will never, ever forget you! You always had a smile on your face, something your baby girl has carried on in your honour. You were truly a special son-in-law and an awesome husband and daddy. I love you Curt and promise I will do my best to see that Candie and Chelsea are looked after. - Posted by: Marilyn Godfrey (Family) on: Dec 14, 2005

  • Curtis you were one of the very few well mannered people I have met. Even though I was only in your life for a short time you made a great impression on me as a wonderful hard working young man. My heart goes out to you, Candice and Chelsea. I know very well Curtis is looking over you and will always protect you. They say God has his reasons which we may never understand. But I do believe I will see my friend again. I'm taking my laptop with me. - Posted by: Preston Lennox (Friend) on: Dec 12, 2005

  • My heart is with the whole family in this sad time. Curtis, you were like extended family and I am proud to have known you rather than to have to rely on stories that families tell. I know your family here will be well looked after by all your family and friends. I was not able to be at the service this afternoon, but my thoughts are with everyone and Colombe has asked me to express her regret that she could not be there as well. - Posted by: Joan McConachy (Friend) on: Nov 21, 2005

I promise that I will take care of Candice and Chelsea .I will dearly miss you my boy and best friend in the world. • Curtis will be sadly missed by our family. Things seem so empty without him. He brought so much laughter and joy into our lives. I am thankful for getting to know Curtis and am honoured to be an auntie to his baby girl. We will never forget you Curtis. You were the closest thing to a brother that I have ever known, and I couldn't have found a better one if I had picked you myself. I will do whatever I can to help Candie, Chelsea and Zeusy. We sure do miss you Curtis. - Posted by: Terra-Dawn Helm (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2005

  • Curtis , it is unbelievable to imagine you being gone from our family. You were always nice and caring and there to help. You have given our famlies two very special things, Candy and Chelsea. Chelsea will grow up to be a very intelligent and beautiful woman. Just like her mother and father. You made alot of peoples lives richer by allowing them to get to know you. I will miss you. - Posted by: Kim Silvaggio ( Holden) (Family) on: Nov 18, 2005
