EVELYN KARN JOYCE KERNTOPH Suddenly, on November 15, 2005, Evelyn Karn Joyce Kerntoph (nee Hammersley) left her earthly family to join the heavenly family. Joyce was born September 10, 1924 in Kelloe, MB and grew up on the farm near Birnie, MB. After finishing school, she became a teacher, which brought her to the Ashern area where she met and married Bill, her husband of 57 years. Joyce had a variety of interests and talents, some of which were the church, 4-H, cake decorating, sewing, knitting, painting and gardening. Anyone who has ever driven past their yard couldn't help but admire the garden and flowers. She loved a roadtrip and would pick berries anywhere. Bill and Joyce opened and operated the Robinson's Store in Ashern for 29 years. Joyce was a quiet, giving lady who will be sadly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves to mourn her husband Wilbert (Bill); daughters, Valerie (Graham) Price and Ardith (Dave) Springer; grandchildren, Barbara (Bob) Lewis, Janet Price, Darren Springer, Vicky Springer; and twin great-grandsons, Dylan and Caelan Lewis; brothers, Art (Polly) Hammersley, Ernie (Linda) Hammersley; sisters, Mildred (Ralph) Schneider, Winnie (Steve) Waschko, Kay (Dick) Haug; sister-in-law Margaret Howard and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Florence Hammersley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ralph and Tillie Kerntoph; sister and brother-in-law, Doreen and Jack Heinz; brother-in-law Ed Howard; and niece Karla Heinz. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grace Lutheran Church in Ashern with Pastor Nancy Walker officiating. Interment to follow in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Gerry Miles, Robert Hammersley, Randall Boschman, Gordon Schneider, Darrell Hammersley and Doug Hammersley. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild in care of Julie Bergner, Box 721, Ashern, MB R0C 0E0 for use in the palliative care unit .
