Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLESLIE GORDON (DICK) SMITH January 7, 1912 - November 6, 2005 Leslie (Dick) Smith, formerly of Togo SK, passed away in Winnipeg at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Carruthers), his parents and sister Dorothy, he is survived by his son Richard (Diane) of Winnipeg, daughter Judy Pettifer (James) and grandchildren, Robert, Adam and Alexandra Pettifer of Richmond, BC and sister Violet Holliday of Kamsack, SK. He was also predeceased by his second wife Cynthia Dickie. Leslie farmed his entire life, settling on his own farm in the Makaroff, MB area in 1946 after serving in the airforce. In 2004 he moved into Vista Park Lodge in Winnipeg where he continued to enjoy reading, music and gardening. He appreciated the caring staff of the Lodge and the dear friends he made there. They shared many good times, especially enjoying 'pub night'. Adele and Norman Walker were special friends, sharing his love of history and nature. Leslie was a longtime supporter of conservation and animal welfare organizations. A funeral service was held in Togo, SK followed by interment in Yorkton Memorial Gardens, Yorkton, SK, November 12.
