Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN DRACHUK Peacefully, on Tuesday, November 15, 2005, John Drachuk passed away at Concordia Hospital. John was predeceased by his father Yakob; mother Mikalena; sisters, Elsie and Mary; brothers, Peter and Danny. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Lena; sons, Derrick and Gary (Cheryl); daughter Marilyn (George); sister Anne; grandchildren, Derek, Larissa, Stephanie, Jeremy and Tyler. John Drachuk was born in Winnipeg on October 20, 1919 and resided in Winnipeg all of his life. John served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War from 1941 through 1945 in an anti-tank regiment and fought from Normandy to Germany. After the war he worked at the C.N.R. Transcona shops as a carpenter for 34 years until his retirement in 1980. John enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers-in-law and also picking mushrooms and blueberries. He loved his garden and looked forward to planting and tending it every summer. He travelled frequently with his wife to Toronto and Vancouver and also visited family and relatives in Minneapolis and Los Angeles. In his later years John frequently attended the Prince Edward Branch Legion and liked playing a few dollars on the machines. He also liked to play poker and was always ready for a good game. He was very generous to his children and they will never forget that. Rest in peace. Vichnaya Pamyat. Interment took place at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
