NORA HOULE (nee DESJARLAIS) 1941 - 2005 With her family by her side, Mom passed away on Monday, November 14, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 64 years. Mom was born on the Sandy Bay First Nation. She was the third youngest child of the late James and Emily Desjarlais. She attended the Sandy Bay and Fort Alexander Residential Schools. Mom and Dad were married on February 3, 1958. She graduated in 1975 from the P.E.N.T program with a Bachelor of Education degree from Brandon University. Mom was a teacher at Ebb and Flow School for 25 years. She retired in 1996. She also had the opportunity to visit Rome in 1980. Mom was very proud of herself, her son Matthew and her granddaughter Jennifer for graduating with an Educational degree from Brandon University (3 generations). She was also very proud of the rest of her children for pursuing their careers. After Dad passed away, Mom came out of retirement and taught at Split Lake, MB. Mom touched many hearts for she was a kind and giving person. She also leaves to mourn her students and the many friends that she made at Split Lake. We would like to thank the people of Split Lake who made her feel so welcome. Mom loved to dance to old time fiddling music. Mom and Dad made such a beautiful couple on the dance floor. She also loved to sing with the Ebb and Flow Choir. Mom is with Dad and Emily now. We all know that she is happy and safe. We will all miss her for we loved her so much. We love you Mom and KoKo. Mom was predeceased by her husband Albert on December 30, 2000 and her infant daughter Emily Marie in 1967, her father James in 1973, her mother Emily in 1948, her brothers Thomas, Andrew, Oliver, Laurent, Donald, and Harry, her sisters Victoria Roulette, and Theresa Demarais. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish many fond memories; her children, Selma (Ron) of Reedy Creek, Matthew (Pearl) of Ebb and Flow, Warren (Marie) of Brandon, Lorele of Winnipeg, Barclay and friend Awanii of Unadilla, New York, Caramel and friend Juan of Winnipeg; her special grandchildren, Loella, John, Carl and Sheldon; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, her sister Mary and Mike Maruschak of Sandy Bay; her brother Douglas and Donna Desjarlais of Sandy Bay; her four sisters-in-law, Grace Svens of Winnipeg, Martha Houle of Ebb and Flow, Rona Desjarlais of Sandy Bay, and Bernice Desjarlais of Sandy Bay; her two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Desmerais of Sandy Bay and Archie Houle of Winnipeg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Traditional Wake Services were held on Thursday, November 17 and Friday, November 18 at the Ebb and Flow Band Hall. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ebb and Flow Band Hall. Fr. Norberto Monton will officiate with the interment to follow in the Ebb and Flow Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be; Trevor Baptiste-Houle, John Houle Jr, Carl Houle, Trenton Anderson, Warren Houle Jr, and Sheldon Houle. Flower Bearers will be; Emilie Ames, Loella Houle, Jennifer Baptiste-Houle, Autumn Anderson, Tammy Houle and Brittnay Baptiste-Houle. Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel, Ste.
