MARGARET MCIVOR May 5, 1934 - Oct. 29, 2005 On Saturday, October 29, 2005 at the Thompson General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with diabetes, at the age of 71 years. It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Margaret, a beautiful, loving, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister-in-law. Margaret was born in Cross Lake to Cecilia and Stanley McKay. Margaret dedicated her life as a mother to her children, which she did very well, but unbeknown to many she possessed other talents and skills. Her talents included working at the airport as manager, cook at the local nursing station, and janitor at the local school. She also lent her services to the Cross Lake Radio Station and Metis Women Committees. She especially enjoyed doing handicrafts notably beadwork and moccasin making. Margaret leaves to mourn : husband Thomas; sons, Hank (Eileen), Rene (Arlene), Wayne (Liz); daughters, Marlene, Bev (Carl); mother Cecilia McKay; sisters, Verna (Bill) Bodnar, Margaret Jane Osborne; brother Arnold Blacksmith; grandchildren, Maxine, Lisa, Alana, Reynold, Kayla, Tyler, Carlo, Brett, Shineen, Tory, Keith, Stephanie, Lyle, Shane, Darren, Francine, Stan, Calvin, Josie; great-grandchildren Blaze, Darrah, Steven, Blake, Mary Jane, Ethan, Ripken, Claude, Christian, Drayden; nieces Sheila, Joan Bodnar, Delores Osborne; nephews, Courtney (Rosemary), Lloyd (Rita) McKay, John, Billy Bodnar; sisters-in-law Frances (Stan), Joan, Eleanor; brothers-in-law Edward (Suzette), Jack (Bernice), Doug (Ila), Les (Margaret), George, Jimmy; daughters-in-law Josephine, Kathleen. She leaves behind numerous cousins, friends and relatives. Margaret was predeceased by: father Stanley McKay; daughter Gloria Jean; sons, Peter, Lyle, Stan; granddaughter Baby Girl McIvor; aunties, Azzelle Soloman, Anna McKay, Florence McKay; uncles, John Samuel McKay, Norman McKay, Timothy McKay, Alex Blue Eyes McKay; brothers and sisters-in-law Kathleen and Henry Delaronde, Don and Rebecca McIvor, Jacqueline McIvor; niece Jenny McIvor; nephews Mike Delaronde, and Sidney McIvor. We, the family would like to extend our special thanks and gratitude to Jane Armstrong, Lisa Nachbaur and the Muchipuniwin Group, Cross Lake Community Council-Fire and Rescue, Elaine and Ronnie Beardy, George McIvor and family, Sharon McIvor, Maggie and Johnnie Ross, Mayor and Council, Chief and Council, all Church Congregations, Rita and Lloyd McKay, Jeff and Patti Brightnose, Gloria McKay, and all the people of Cross Lake. The family would also like to express thanks to the staff at the Thompson General Hospital for all their wonderful care and support. Forever in our Hearts, with Treasured Memories . Funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the Cross Lake United Church, which Reverend Ernest MacDonald officiated. Interment was held at Cross Lake Cemetery.
