GEORGES MAURICE JOSEPH DUFAULT February 1, 1951 - November 15, 2005 Today we celebrate the life of an amazing human being, Georges Dufault. Georges lived his life to serve others and he gave everything he had to one and all without want or desire of anything in return. A rare man, a kind man, a gentle man - A HERO TO ALL. Georges was born on February 1, 1951 at St. Boniface Hospital, the 6th child to Sara and Alexandre. The Dufault family were among the first pioneers of Iles des Chenes, MB, settling there over 100 years ago. Georges was proud of his heritage and grew up surrounded in the strength of this community with his brothers and sisters for the first 19 years of his life. Georges moved to Winnipeg in 1970 and began his adult life. He was a fun-loving man who loved fast cars, motorcycles, music, good friends and good times. The friendships he made were deep and long lasting and his life has touched so many people - too many to name. Georges met and married Shelley Edwards in 1974 and their union produced his first two children, Jamie George and Jana-Rai. These two brought out the best in him as he had such a deep and abiding love for his children and he was at his very best being a father. He did it all with such ease and grace. Georges lived for his kids and could be a role model for fathers everywhere. In 1988, Georges began working for the City of Winnipeg at the Waste Water Treatment Plant where he truly made a difference in the quality of life for the citizens of Winnipeg. Georges was a hard worker, dependable, and loyal to his City of Winnipeg team and was respected by his fellow workers. Georges married the love of his life, Sherry Holley on February 17, 1989 and on November 7, 1989, his pride and joy came to be - his son Jason Allan was born. When the two of them were together it was obvious their bond was deep and strong, giving Georges the opportunity to further excel in his gift of being an absolutely exceptional father. Georges, Sherry and Jason also sponsor a loved foster child, Elpina Evason, who is 11 years old and lives in Kenya. Georges family and friends will continue with the sponsorship, as Georges would have wanted. Georges had only a few passions in life - but they were all encompassing. First and foremost, his Heavenly Father, he had a deep relationship with The Lord his God. His family and the time that was spent in relationship was everything. If you knew George, you knew that he cherished his family. He loved hockey but golf was his passion. He was the first on the green in the spring and the last to leave in the fall. Helping others was not a passion for Georges - it was his nature. He truly lived to serve others. His gifts in life were his kindness, generosity, compassion, integrity, honour, laughter and joie de vivre. These he gave freely, fully and unequivocally. Georges is survived by his loving wife Sherry and his youngest son Jason; his first-born Jamie Georges and his girlfriend Lisa Hanson, his cherished daughter Jana-Rai and son-in-law Russell. Georges was predeceased by his father Alexandre in 1971 and his brother Jerome in 1991. Georges will be deeply missed by his mother Sara; his brothers and sisters, Angele, Lucille (Gilles) Savard, Alain, Leo (Carmen), Bernie, Paul and like a brother to him, Claude Desrochers. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and good friends. John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that's where I am, there you may be also. Memorial will be held at Church of the Rock (1397 Buffalo Pl.) in the Chapel on Monday, November 21 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to World Vision, as Georges aspired to sponsor many children. He is a champion, a hero It is not what he has Which expresses the worth of him, But what he is... He wears his crest upon his heart.
