He is survived by his wife Martha; daughters, Diane Powers (Bob), Sherrill Irwin (Ken), Marilyn Pantermoller (Werner); sons, Bill (Erna), Bob, Jim (Ellen), Tom (Janice); 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and 16 nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, William George and Lillian Ann (Patterson) Snowdon; brothers, George and Tom; sisters, Evelyn Poole (John) and Marjorie Cooper (Harry); and brother-in-law Albert Davenport. Dad's father owned and operated a bicycle shop on Henderson Highway and Chalmers. In 1935 he was killed in an accident on his way home. At the age of 19 Bill took over the family business. After the war Dad and his brother Tom started W T Snowdon Furniture and Appliance. Through business Bill met many people and made many friends. Over the years Dad served the community of East Kildonan well. He was a member of Council, the School Board, Kiwanis Club, The Winnipeg-St. Boniface Harbour Commission and acted as chairman of Public Works for East Kildonan. Bill had a drive to achieve and create. Later in life he turned to land development in the Grand Marais area where the family had a cottage. This is where Dad spent his final years, always with a project on the go and several on the back burner. Anyone who met Bill would have sensed his humour, imagination and vision. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the charity of their choice.
