Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryVERNON EDMOND BATER It is with great sadness to share the sudden passing of Vernon, aged 66 on November 18, 2005 at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Vern lived in Winnipeg in the early years of his life. He married his soul mate on August 19, 1961 and together they raised three beautiful sons, whom he was very proud of. Vernon and his boys spent countless hours building and renovating homes for family and friends. Vern joined the Scouting movement at an early age, eventually becoming a leader of Cubs, Scouts and Rovers. His enjoyments in the Scouting movement were the many years of weekend camping trips. Vern was an entrepreneur at heart, involving himself in many adventures. He was employed with Contractor Appliance Sales / CHC Sales for many years. He was hard working, dependable and loyal. He was respected by all who came in contact with him. Vern enjoyed the simple things in life and lived life to the fullest. Left to mourn is his soul mate Dorothea; sons, Robert (Janet), grandchildren, Bob, Chantal and Colin; Kevyn; John (Shannon), grandchildren, Mattheus, Spencer and Lauryn. His two adopted daughters, Kimberly (Allan) Smith and grandson Tarrell; Dianne and family. Also left to mourn are his two brothers, Mervyn (Sandra) and family; Bob and family. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews and cousins. We are grateful to the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for their valiant efforts, also their caring and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or a charity of their choice. Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald St. in St. Boniface on Wednesday, November 23 at 7:00 p.m. Fr. Ron Leger will officiate. The service will terminate at the church. LeCLAIRE BROTHERS in care of arrangements. 775-2220.

My deepest condolences to the Bater Family. I was a neighbour living behind the Bater home on Clifton St. About two months ago Vern and I became reaquainted when I purchased appliances. We talked about the good old days and commiserated that our mothers died so close together in time and place and were not aware of the other's presence. Vern shouldn't have died so young! He was a great asset to all who knew him. Say sorry to Bobbie for me as well. - Posted by: Gloria Forrest Gray (Acquaintance) on: Nov 30, 2005

Mrs. Bater I don't know if you remember me. I knew Vern from the old Western Supply days. He was always an honourable man and most willing to help. I WILL ALWAYS BE PROUD to have known such a man. Brian Midway - Posted by: Brian B annerman (Acquaintance) on: Nov 24, 2005
