RITA GATE Peacefully, on Saturday, November 19, 2005 with her family by her side, Rita passed away at the Grace General Hospital. Her loving husband Gordon predeceased her after having shared together 52 years of marriage. Left to cherish her memory forever are her children Laraine (Walter), Robert (Linda) and Cathy (Kevin), as well as her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mom was born November 18, 1920 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg where she was raised by her loving mother, Mary-Elizabeth Whittington. She attended King Edward and Daniel McIntyre schools. She married Gordon in 1940 and together they made their home in Winnipeg where, with much love and devotion, raised their 3 children. Mom enjoyed a successful career as an Administrative Assistant. Retiring at the age of 60, she then devoted many years to the vocation of grand-parenting. In her spare time she enjoyed golfing, long walks and camping. In recent years it was the mention of Casino Trips that would bring an excited twinkle in her eye. Her greatest joy we know was her children. An independent, humble spirit with a great sense of humor, she will be sadly missed. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Russ Albak and Roseanne for the many years of care and attention. A special thank you to Dr. Ron George and the 5th floor Nursing staff of Grace Hospital for the compassionate care they gave to all of us during this difficult time. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. and Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, November 23 at 10:00 a.m. All services to be held at St. Charles Parish, 320 St. Charles St. Interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's memory can be made to the Manitoba Lung Association and CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca
