VIOLET JANE MOFFAT (nee TAYLOR) 1914 - 2005 It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Violet Jane Moffat (nee Taylor) (nee Forbes) on November 18, 2005 at St. Boniface Hospital. Violet was predeceased by her husbands, Frank Taylor and Robert Moffat; her children, Linda and Robert Taylor; and her siblings, James Forbes and Betty Gourlie. She will be greatly missed by her very special daughter-in-law Mona Taylor and Mona's children, Jillian (David) Wong, Alison (Christian) Laplante and Sarah; by her daughter Judy (Bill) Ryall and their children, Michael, Daniel (Val) and Brady; and by her daughter Joanne (George) Ursell and their children Jennifer, Shaun, Bryan, and Robert. Vi took delight in her two precious great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Ryall and Rebecca Wong. Vi will be remembered by the Moffat children Doug (Donna), Nicole and Shelly, Don, Dick and Linda. Born on June 21, 1914 in Ballylaw, County of Tyrone, Northern Ireland, Violet emigrated to Canada with her family in 1927. She will be greatly missed by her siblings: Daisy Pierce, Norman Forbes, Edna Simpson and Olive Campbell and their families. Vi was a people person who enjoyed her family and many friends, old and new. She will be missed by the Jolly Girls bridge club and her lifelong friend, Dorothy Little. Mom was a feisty, independent, generous and caring woman who loved a good joke. The essence of mom was her devotion to her grandchildren. She cooked elaborate turkey dinners and baked constantly for them. They have afghans, lovingly crocheted by her. She taught them how to play cards and do lunch at Eaton's Grill Room. A special thank you to Dr. Ray Singer for his care during her last years. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, CE501 - 840 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3A 1S1. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715 Family and friends are invited to sign the Book of Condolence at www.chapellawn.mb.ca

  • I have many happy memories of Vi Taylor and Moffat. Vi was always a wonderful friend to my Aunt Dorothy Steele/Little. I most remember how Vi teased my Dad, Eddie McLean - Posted by: Pat Taylor (Friend) on: Nov 23, 2005
