HELEN YOUNG (REITMIER)

HELEN YOUNG (nee REITMIER) Peacefully, with her daughter at her side, Helen passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on November 21, 2005. She will be forever missed and cherished by her daughter Tracey; granddaughter Kyra; sister Gladys Jones and brothers Art Reitmier (Flo) and Joe Reitmier, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends, and her cat Guido. Helen is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Lena; six sisters and three brothers. Helen was born at the St. Boniface Hospital on March 7, 1937, grew up in St. Norbert, and settled in East Kildonan after her marriage to George Young. She worked at Eatons, Monarch Lumber and Carter Day Industries. Helen was blessed with many close friendships and she enjoyed her many trips to Shooting Star and Thief River with her casino buddies Diane, Joan and Gail. As well as her luncheon get togethers with Teresa, Rose and Bridgette. Helen especially enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter Kyra, who was the greatest joy of her life. Helen was much more than a grandmother, as she was actively involved in Kyra's upbringing and daily activities. Kyra is truly blessed to have such a special Granny. Tracey and Kyra would like to thank their family and friends for all of their visits, love and support during mom's illness and a special thank you to cousin Bonny Kutasiewich for her many, many gifts of love and support and helping us every step of the way through this difficult time. A funeral service celebrating Helen's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25 at Holy Redeemer Church, 264 Donwood Drive. In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba. Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 224-1525 in care of arrangements.
