Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMYRTLE MARINE MARQUETTE On Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at the Lions Prairie Manor, Myrtle Marine Marquette of Portage la Prairie, widow of the late Joseph Marquette passed away at the age of 87 years. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the Omega Funeral Home on Monday, November 28 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Jean Bryden officiating. A private family interment will take place in Hillside Cemetery. Myrtle was born on February 24, 1918 daughter of James and Floraetta Overton at Woodridge, MB. She was raised and received her education at Woodridge and Gainsborough Schools. In 1935 she married Joseph Marquette and they farmed and resided in rural Portage la Prairie. She had been employed at the Portage Sewing Factory and later with Connery Riverdale Farms, retiring in 1985. Myrtle centered her life around her family and home. Her interests included quilting, playing cards and visiting with friends and neighbours. Predeceased by her parents, her husband, Joe, infant daughter, two great-granddaughters, Stephanie Sharp and Kelly Tralnberg and great-grandson Geoffrey Sharp; seven brothers, one in infancy, Garnet, Ernest, Sherman, Leonard, Roy and Alonzo; four sisters, one in infancy, Dellia, Elizabeth, and Eunice. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Henry of Airdrie, AB; daughter Verna (Bill) Sharp of Rural Portage; grandchildren, Cindy (Dwayne) Beer of Taylor, BC, Tim (Mona) Carder of Calgary, AB, Justin Marquette of Airdrie, AB, Faron (Robin) Sharp, Janet (Harry) Peeters, Karen (Ross) Hunt, Bev Wettlaufer (Stephen Stadnyk), all of Portage, Dianna (Rick) Viallet of St. Claude, MB, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in Myrtle's name to the Portage District General Hospital Foundation, 524 5th St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3A8.
