MARGRJET FRIDA (FREDA) JOHNSON HENNING (nee GOODMAN) November 1, 1915 - November 20, 2005 Freda passed away peacefully on November 20 at the age of 90 years at the Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary, AB. She was born in Gimli, MB, and lived in Winnipeg, Amaranth and Langruth with her husband Thomas G. Johnson (deceased in 1995), working as a farmer's wife, homemaker, and in a corner store they owned. Tom and Freda separated, and she moved to Seattle, WA in 1957 and trained and worked as an LPN and apartment manager. She married her friend and companion of many years, Martin Henning (deceased in 2001) in 1995, and they retired to Everett, WA where she lived until February 2005 when her children brought her to Calgary because of her failing health. Freda was a friendly, outgoing, generous person who was loved and admired by her family and friends. She loved to learn new things. She had an artistic nature and taught herself to paint and gave beautiful paintings to her family and friends. She took a special interest in the accomplishments of her five children, 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Freda was predeceased by her daughter Vera Rennie (2001) and her son William Johnson (2003). She will be fondly remembered by her children; Budvar (Judi) Johnson, Elizabeth (Allan) Rak and Lilja (James) Carson, son-in-law Clive Rennie, and daughters-in-law Alice Johnson and Rowena Bowles; her grandchildren Michael, Nattacia, Kathy, Penelope, Dane, Karen, Diane, Tricia, Lani, Tom, Keri, Arlene, Cindy, Sandy, Bill and Valerie, and their families. She will also be greatly missed by her sisters; Solly, Julie, Disa, Anna, Ruby, Jeannie and Margie; her brother Don, and their families, and those of her sisters Lilja and Bella and brother Bob who predeceased her. A memorial service will be held in Selkirk, MB at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at Gilbart's Funeral Home, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB, with a reception at the Legion Hall and interment of her ashes to follow at Selkirk Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite Senior Care Centre.
