JOHN ROBERT ROMAN (ROMANIUK) Peacefully, on Thursday, November 24, 2005, John passed away at St. Boniface General Hospital, at the age of 78 years, after a short battle with cancer. John was predeceased by his mother Dora and his sister Mary. He leaves to mourn his wife Virginia; son John (Lorelei), son Robert (Angela) and his three grandchildren, Garrett, Sarah and Emma, as well as two nieces Beverly and Marjorie. John was born October 30, 1927 in Winnipeg and was raised and educated in East Braintree, MB. He was first employed with The Forestry Department in East Braintree, before moving to Winnipeg, where he joined the City of Winnipeg Engineering Department as a Draftsman until his retirement. John met his beloved wife Virginia in 1959 and were married in June 1960. Their first son John was born in 1964 and their second son Robert in 1966. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Many happy times were spent at the family cottage at Victoria Beach. The family gives special thanks to the staff at the St. Boniface General Hospital, 7th floor, for the care given to him. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 29 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel at 701 Regent Ave. In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, a donation may be sent to The Winnipeg Humane Society in John's memory.
