Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOSEPH FREDRICK SMITH July 29, 1922 - November 25, 2005 Joe loved and cared for others throughout his life. He passed away at home, having been surrounded by the love of his family. Joe only recently lost Jean, his wife of 61 years. He will be missed by his two sons, Norm and Al and his daughters-in-law, Sandy and Sue. Nicole, Joel, Heather, Cam, Mandy, Ainsley, Scott, Kristel, Josh and Scotty will all miss their Grandpa. Maggie and Sophie, who always put a twinkle in great-grandpa's eye, will miss visiting him. Joe was raised in Elmwood where he attended Lord Selkirk School. He married Jean, his one and only true love on July 21, 1943. They raised their family in St. Vital and remained there throughout their lives. Joe worked for many years with Canada Post. He was a talented handyman and woodworker who loved sharing his time, expertise and talent. It was always enjoyable to work and learn alongside of him. Joe was a family man and a people person. He touched the lives of all who came in contact with him. Joe loved to kibitz and tease and always had a warm smile and a kind word for everyone. Bank tellers, waitresses, store clerks, nurses, neighbours and strangers on the street were all recipients of his charm and gentle spirit. Our family wishes to thank the warm hearted Palliative Care staff who looked after Dad and provided us with guidance and support. We would also like to thank the Home Care workers for their kindness. If friends so desire, donations can be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or CancerCare Manitoba. Joe has left this Earth to be with Jean, his soul mate in life. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29 at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. With a reception to follow. Arrangements entrusted to: GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 455 LAGIMODIERE BLVD. 982-7550

Your dad was one of my first clients. I always enjoyed his friendly gestures and considered him a friend. Gerry Ducharme, Kelowan, B.C. - Posted by: Gerry Ducharme (Friend) on: Nov 27, 2005
